Laboratory Facilities

Our laboratory equipment forms the basis of the NCS facility which is amongst the most powerful of its type in the world and has a throughput that is virtually unparalleled. Throughout its existence the NCS has been leading at the forefront of instrumentation for chemical crystallography and the current equipment is no exception.

We have two very high brilliance rotating anode X-ray generators which, coupled with state-of-the-art Hybrid Pixel Array Detectors, means that we can examine the smallest and most weakly diffracting samples that the community has to offer!

We also have a conventional CCD-based diffractometer on one of the rotating anode ports, which is used for more routine samples and supporting some of our advanced techniques.
